Watch of the Week - Watches and Wonders: Day 1 Rolex Edition

At the time of writing this, Watches and Wonders day 1 is over; it's a day we all, as watch lovers, look forward to as we get the first look at what's to come from major brands like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, etc. today we'll be focusing on Rolex, The all-new Land-Dweller was released, It has an entirely new movement, case design, and bracelet. For the past few years, Rolex has felt stale, but this year, I believe they really made some noise with the release of this watch. Now, I won't get into the weeds about the new caliber. Today, we are talking about all things design.

At first glance it is very genta esc who designed the oysterquartz from back in the day. Its integrated bracelet, coupled with the new case design is very easy on the eyes, and the thinner profile is going to sit wonderfully on the wrist. The new flat link jubilee bracelet is harnessed on the wrist with their "Hidden" buckle. Rolex looks at their watches with an entire watch approach, keeping the bracelet and the case in mind. And this follows suit. The way the buckle is hidden allows a continuous loop from lug to lug, and I think it is stunning. Now, it is only offered on a flat link jubilee bracelet, although I am craving an oyster-inspired bracelet. I just think it would pair wonderfully with the aggressive architecture of the case.

Continuing on the Rolex train, there is a new Daytona dial; I'm a sucker for all things Daytona, a new turquoise dial with black subdials that sits in a yellow gold case with a black ceramic bezel paired with their Oysterflex strap. This one is just not for me. Although I can appreciate it, I don't think it is something I am going to be adding to my dream board.
